It's an honest question. One I ask myself often. Are you doing your best?
So.... are you?
Your Best is Your Ultimate Victory.
I’ll say that again… Your Best Is Your Ultimate Victory.
It’s easy to write down what your goals are, as we went over last week. It’s more difficult— and ultimately transformative—to write down why your goal is so important.
Let me give you an example.
My goal back in September was to lose 10-15 pounds by the end of the year. Clear enough, right? But why is this important to me?
When I did some reflecting, I knew that it’s not just about the extra L-Bs, it’s about my health and my future. It’s about lowering my blood pressure and increasing the likelihood of seeing my son grow up, get married and having a family of his own. Holding my future grandchildren. Yes, I know, he’s only 11. But, it’s true. I want to be around for a LOOONG time.
With that motivation in mind, I put together a plan, stuck to it, and did the work. While some days were harder than others, I did it. I love 16 pounds.
My vision became reality.
I suspect by now you have already set an important 2023 goal, but have you defined why it is important to you?
In this episode, I want to share how to do your best and by having the right mindset, you can do just that.
So, let's dive in.

Overcome Inner Resistance
Conventional wisdom would have you believe that most of us don’t set goals or give our best effort to achieve our goals because we fear failure. Dr. Jim Afremow, coach, professional counselor, and author of The Champion’s Mind: How Great Athletes Think, Train, and Thrive, shares that there is a more powerful inner resistance in many of us: a fear of success.
Victory is in the Effort
The key is to reframe the concept of success itself. To change your mindset. Setting BIG, audacious goals and not reaching them is NOT FAILURE. Setting goals and doing your absolute best to reach those goals is the ultimate victory.
daily Focus Questions
Shift your mindset to celebrate the daily journey. A great way to start the day is to have a habit that gets your mindset in the right place. For some, this could be reading a devotional, meditating or prayer. Others love a good workout.
No matter what routine works for you, I recommend asking yourself two key questions each day.
In the morning, ask yourself:
How will I be a champion today?
In the evening, ask:
How was I a champion today?
Asking these questions keeps your mind in the right place and focused on the moment. Do your best today rather than worrying about what tomorrow may bring.
In closing
I'll ask again... Are you doing your best?
This can be an incredible year! It’s up to you. This time next year, what do you plan to be celebrating? What is your #ThisYearIWill statement? And what are you doing today to make it a reality?
Don't drift from one day to the next. Put in the effort. Do your best.
