Welcome Home & Thankful

Matt came home yesterday and I’m so happy to have him home… not only has it been a long time since he’s been home, but it’s also Thanksgiving and we haven’t had Thanksgiving together since moving to Guam almost three years ago. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday so it’ll be wonderful to have my honey home to celebrate with.
I’ve already prepared a ton of my menu and the turkey is in the oven as I type. My green bean casserole is on deck and potatoes have been cut, put in a big pot full of water, and are ready for me to turn the burner on. Here are some pictures of my prep…

We’re having a bunch of Matt’s guys over tonight for dinner so it’ll be nice to have a full house. We usually have them over for Christmas dinner but this year we’ll be able to have them over for Turkey Day and Christmas. I have so much to be thankful for this year.

I’m thankful for my wonderful Jack & Tess. Yes, they’re my dogs, but they keep me sane when I would be pulling my hair out some days. I’m thankful for my health. I’m thankful to Stephenie Meyer for creating such a wonderful world, the Twilight World. It has been such a wonderful year with high anticipation for the New Moon movie. It was fabulous and I can’t wait for Eclipse come June. I’m thankful for my friends. I’ve met several new friends this year and have continued wonderful friendships with friends I’ve had for years. My friends on island have really become family since moving so far away. I’m thankful for my dearest friend Liz. She recently moved to D.C. but I know no matter the distance she’ll continue to be like a sister to me and I’m so thankful for her friendship. I don’t know where I’d be without her. I’m thankful for all my fellow Twilight Addicts…. Thanks for joining me at the midnight showings, sharing any new news, and watching the movies with me over and over and over again. You all know who you are. I’m thankful for my family. Aunt Jeri, she’s such a loving person. When we get to talk on the phone, the time difference makes it a little difficult, I could talk to her for hours on end. Her voice makes me smile long after our call ends. She’s taught me so much about entertaining and preparing great meals. When I set my table, whether it’s for 12 or 2, I think of her and all of her great advice. I’m so far away from my family but whenever I talk with them it’s as if I’m just a couple of doors down. I have the best family in the whole world. Yes, I’m very biased because no one has my family but they are mine and I’m so grateful to have them. The last and most important thing I’m thankful for…. My wonderful husband, Matt. He sacrifices so much for us, our country, and our countries freedom. It takes a very strong person to live on a submarine for as long as he does. He’s so kind, loving, and such a wonderful person. I’m proud to be his wife.

On this Thanksgiving I wish everyone the best and hope you share what you’re thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Halloween with Liz, Candy, & the kiddos

Halloween was a lot of fun this year as it always is. I went to Liz’s house after making some yummy caramel apples to bring with me. We frosted some cupcakes and then started carving a pumpkin. A little while later, Candy and her kids got there. While Liz and Ally continued carving the pumpkin, Candy, Kyton, Emily & I took a trip around the neighborhood to trick-or-treat.

Memorial Day…

Memorial Day…| JessicaFawn.com

Hundreds of sailors, national guard personnel and airman helped plant thousands of flags in honor of civilians and service members who died on Guam during WWII.
More than 3,000 flags were planted during a memorial ceremony at the War Memorial Park in Asan. Each flag represented the 1,135 lives of Chamorro civilians that died during the Japanese occupation of WWII and the 1,747 men and women of the U.S. military who died in the islands liberation in 1944. Here are some photos of all the flags.

The holidays are almost over…

It’s New Years Eve. Matt and I are staying home tonight. We’ll probably play a game of Monopoly and watch some tv. I’ve taken a ton of pictures since he’s been home and promised I would post them so here they are.

Christmas was fun. We went to Gaudio’s house. He works for Matt. We did a gift exchange and Matt and I got a Nerf Gun set complete with darts to shoot at each other. Needless to say, Matt immediately took it out of its package and began playing with it. Pictures follow…

This is when he was “trying to shoot the camera”… so he says. It hit me in the forehead.

The next event on our calendar was the boat Christmas party. It was a lot of fun. The food was great and the company was even better. We had hula dancers and great prizes too. Matt and I walked away with an Xbox 360 which we truly didn’t need. We ended up taking it back to the NEX the following day to use the money towards other stuff we wanted. I got a bread maker (which I’ve wanted for a while), an ice cream maker (yummy, need I say more), golf balls for Matt, a new game for our PS3, and some other odds and ends. After all that we still had more money to spend. The following pictures are from the boat Christmas party.

Matt bought a new camera for me for Christmas, so I promise to post pictures more often. 🙂 Happy Holidays everyone and I hope everyone has a fabulous 2009.

Christmas Eve Dinner

Matt and I are having a total of 10 people (12 if you count us) for Christmas Eve Dinner. Tomorrow night we’ll be going to Gaudio’s house (one of Matt’s guys) for Christmas Dinner. It’s so nice to have a bunch of people to cook for but its a ton of work. Matt took a video (I look awful in it. In my defense I was trying to get stuff in the oven early enough and hadn’t taken a shower yet) and I took a second one after the turkey was put in the oven. We’ll be taking pictures too once everyone gets here. I’ll post them tonight or tomorrow.

It’s been a while…

I haven’t written in a while for several reasons…
I have had several Pampered Chef shows this month so they have been keeping me very busy. I had four shows in one weekend, which I had a blast doing, but was very happy when the weekend was over. I had two more the following weekend and then it was time to prepare for Turkey Day.

Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holiday. This one was a little harder than others since Matt is out to sea, but my friends made it nice. I had three girlfriends over and one of them brought her three kids, so my table was full, which was what I wanted more than anything with Matt being gone.

Aunt Jeri, you would be proud… I had the table set and all my serving pieces and plates out the night before with little post-its with the dishes name on it for where it belonged. I woke up bright and early with plenty of time to get my bearings together and get the 16 pound turkey in the over. Yes, I said 16 pound turkey. It was the smallest one I could find at the commissary and I went a good week and a half before Thanksgiving. The commissary was also out of canned pumpkin too. My friend, Liz, bought me some out in town that was close to $4 a can. It was organic, which I’m sure is half of why it was so pricey, but at the same time it was also purchased out in town. I was glad I picked up a pre-made pie though as I ran out of time to make my pies anyway. The reason I ran out of time… well that’s my own fault.

Liz, Alison, Juli, and I went to see Twilight, my new obsession, on the 21st. We went to the midnight showing and it was well worth it. I started reading Twilight, the first of four books in the Twilight Saga, just prior to seeing the movie. Now many of you may laugh, as the book is intended for a young adult audience, mainly teenage girls, but I just can’t put the books down. I will say my friends read much quicker then I do though. Liz, Alison, and Juli have all finished the books, and I am in the middle of the third one. Some of them just won’t sleep though until they’ve read it all.

I can’t begin to tell you how much this book has kept my mind busy. It’s been nice to have such a great book to curl up to and the relaxing has been well needed.

I’ll be submitting my application next week to substitute teach for the government schools here in Guam. I just need to get my police clearance done and then I’ll finally submit it.

Now, back to my book… if you haven’t read it yet, check the Twilight Saga out… it’s really good.
