I’m sitting at the AMC terminal waiting for another flight and an older gentlemen just came in on a flight from Hickam. His name is Ed Reyes and he was 11 years old when Japan attacked Guam during WWII. He said they put all the locals into concentration camps and slave labor camps. When the US came to Guam, he said they were flying over the island and bombing but aiming for everywhere but the camps to avoid hitting the innocents. He said none of his family was killed while the Japanese were here but his Uncle was heavily punished for trying to protect his family.
The stories I hear sitting here are sad and amazing at the same time.
I’ll try to post again soon.
