Hubs was home (for a good portion of January), which I loved. We were able to spend a good amount of time together since he had been on stand-down. For those of you not used to the military lingo… stand-down is a relaxation from a “state of readiness or alert”. He was basically on leave without having to use leave. He still had to muster twice a week but that’s only for a few hours, then he was home.
He was able to play some golf and I enjoyed cooking meals for the two of us again. I don’t cook all that much when he’s gone because it’s much harder to cook for one, and I just don’t enjoy it as much.
Our PCS (permanent change of station, aka move) ball is starting to roll. We’ve got our pack out dates scheduled, our Jeep ship date scheduled, and an endless to-do list (most of which I’ll have to do on my own, which isn’t a surprise).
I’m getting very excited and anxious about our arrival in Pearl. While talking to a lady at the housing office in Hawaii, I found out the wait list is 6-12 months long for “all senior-enlisted housing areas”. I pray it doesn’t take that long for us to get a house, but if it does, we have some wonderful friends that have been generously offered to let us stay with them while we wait.
The first month we’re there we’ll be staying at the Navy Lodge. Unfortunately, we are limited to a maximum stay of 30 days. I’m sure this could change if they knew the list was as long as it is. But like I said, we have some pretty fabulous friends. 🙂
As I type this post, I’m curled up in bed with a nasty cold and my love is back at work underwater, who knows where. Other then the cold, I sure to love this life I lead. I can’t complain… I have a roof over my head, food in my tummy, two wonderful pups, and the love of a man I adore.
We’re still working on starting our little family… it’ll happen when it’s supposed to, at least that’s what I keep telling myself. Until then, this gal is content in 2011…. so far…
